UAS weekly – 05.02.2021 – Kongsberg Geospatial, developer of the TerraLens Geospatial SDK, uAvionix, creators of the PingStation® Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) transponder, and Aireon, developers of a space-based ADS-B network announced that they will be demonstrating a horizonless air picture to help improve drone operations safety in an upcoming online seminar hosted by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI). Kongsberg Geospatial, along with its partners Aireon and uAvionix, will demonstrate how a space-based ADS-B feed can be fused with a ADS-B local receiver to create the world’s first demonstration of a “horizonless air picture” for BVLOS operations. This is important for long-range, BVLOS missions where unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) operators need to be aware of air traffic and other unmanned systems – both in the mission area, and over the horizon… lire l’article
Indian Defence News – 08.02.2021 – India could soon have an indigenously built high altitude drone, capable of flying at a height of more than 65,000 feet continuously for 90 days. The solar-powered flying saucer, called the Infinity, is funded by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and is a critical part of India’s unmanned drone warfare programme called CATS or the Combat Air Teaming System. The news media quoted sources to suggest Infinity could be available to the Indian armed forces within three to five years. The future war tactics require unmanned aerial vehicles that can fly as high as stratosphere and Infinity is good enough to reach those heights… lire l’article
eVTOL News – 06.02.2021 – The Chinese eVTOL developer EHang will play a significant role in two European projects that aim to demonstrate the application of urban air mobility (UAM) to emergency medical services. The company’s Norwegian branch, EHang Scandinavia AS, has been named as a partner in AiRMOUR, a European Union (EU)-funded research and innovation project focused on advancing UAM. AiRMOUR plans to validate the use of personal air vehicles for doctors and medical supplies through simulations in Luxembourg and real-life demonstrations in Stavanger, Norway; Helsinki, Finland; and the region of Nord-Hessen, Germany. The results will inform development of a UAM “toolbox” for aviation and urban authorities, a guidebook for cities and other stakeholders, and a training program in cooperation with Eurocontrol. EHang already has an operational permit from Norway’s Civil Aviation Authority for long-term flight testing of its two-passenger EH216 autonomous aerial vehicle. (The company has received similar approvals in Austria and Canada.)… lire l’article
